CANNES, FRANCE 2 December 2016 - Zwipe participated in Cartes Trustech this week, one of the world's most prominent card technology and payment industry exhibitions. Senior executives from over 130 countries flocked to Cannes to participate in a week of intensive forums and discussions about some of the industry’s most pressing topics. Artificial intelligence, the future of payments, IoT connectivity, digital identification and biometrics were just some of the major burning issues reviewed. This year's event saw considerable enthusiasm for biometric technology, specifically biometric smart card applications.
Commenting on this development, Einar Boije, Zwipe's SVP of Sales and Marketing who was a speaker and panellist at the Biometrics for Authentication session at Trustech said, "It is definitely an exciting time to be in this space. From our perspective, seeing this heightened level of interest in biometric smart cards is clearly a positive signal. We remain very well positioned to maximize this interest and to adapt to the evolving opportunities that are presenting themselves in the different market segments that we operate in."
The increased interest in biometrics follows a major emerging trend this year, with a whole host of authentication applications coming to market with ranging levels of adoption. Many experts and industry insiders agree that the new wave of FinTech innovation is changing the way the payment ecosystem functions. With this emphasis on what is shaping the future of trust based technologies, Trustech was a true meeting point, with many key players and decision makers present.
"We had many excellent meetings with both existing partners and new parties that expressed an interest in working with us. It was time very wisely spent as we were able to speak intimately with some of the industry's largest and most strategically important companies. Looking forward we feel confident that we are on the right path and working with the right partners,” added Louis Bianchin, Zwipe’s Director of Strategic Alliances.
A majority of Zwipe’s entire value chain was well represented at Trustech. With very many meetings scheduled in advance of the exhibition. Summing up his experience, Einar Boije said, “we left Cannes in great spirits as we were able to confirm progress being made on both technical and commercial fronts.”
