What are the advantages of a biometric payment system?
Safety and security are the top benefits of biometric payments. Besides, other advantages include user authentication of the payment tool, faster PIN-free check-outs, strong security for contactless payments with no transaction limit, peace of mind in case cards are lost or stolen, elimination of contactless fraud, hygienic payments and global acceptance of such cards at all point of sales and ATMs.
Is it true that biometric cards are costly to deploy?
Costs caused by the manufacturing complexity of biometric payment cards has long been seen as the main barrier to mass adoption. Initially, the cost of the card was considered so prohibitive that a charge would have to be passed on to the end-user. We, at Zwipe, have worked to remove this barrier with new low-cost sensor technology combined with an enhanced single silicon card inlay, drastically reducing production costs.
How do I capture my fingerprint on the card?
Once the card is powered, the fingerprint is enrolled on the card itself. The fingerprint sensor captures the card holders’ fingerprint and the biometric template is stored in the Secure Element (SE). The transfer of the biometric information between the sensor and the SE is encrypted for security.
Therefore, no biometric data ever leaves the card and no biometric informationis stored outside the card during enrolment, payment transaction authorization or for any application using the biometric data for authorization.
